Alpacas make all sorts of sounds. Although I have not researched to read official names on all of them, these are most of what we have heard in our herd:
- Hum
- Orgle
- Alarm
- Scream
- Consternation
- Snort
- Sneeze
- Cough
- Breathing Rattle
You can hear some of them here.
Obviously some are normal. Others are not and require a vet’s attention. Here’s hoping you hear mostly the serene hum of a contented and healthy herd!
