Of course, crias are the most pleasurable. At 2-4 weeks keep your camera handy. They will run about with gusto. And then right around dusk they will “pronk” which is akin to an antelope loping about or a horse cantering. These are too few and far between as they mature so capture them for posterity.
Alpacas greet each other with their noses. Humans tend to greet Alpacas with their outstretched hands. Since Alpacas don’t have hands, this can frighten them away from you. Try approaching one with your hands behind you and with you face and nose outstretched. You may get one of those fabled nose kisses!
